On a recent visit to the Institute, Samsung took an interest in how our unique approach to learning purposefully integrates technology to amplify learning experiences.
In this video, the Institute’s team, including staff and teachers at CICS ChicagoQuest, share new ideas about learning in an increasingly networked world, and demonstrate the power of connectivity in learning environments.
By integrating part of a SMALLab game with Samsung’s Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet, we created an embodied learning experience that bridges multiple learning environments – in school, out of school, between schools – as a powerful example of the principles of connected learning.
In the game – EvoQuest – students use Punnett squares to breed and evolve creatures fit enough to survive a changing, challenging environment. Students at Quest to Learn in New York helped out their peers at CICS ChicagoQuest by searching the streets for augmented reality eggs that they could hatch to deepen the gene pool in the Chicago game.
We’d like to thank Samsung for their generous donation, which will help us continue to explore new modes of learning.
