Janet Cappadona • Master Teacher
Janet Cappadona has been teaching Spanish grades 6-8 at East Side Middle School since September 2001. She earned a BA in Spanish Literature and spent time working for PricewaterhouseCoopers in Madrid, Spain. Janet then went on to continue her studies at the Universidad de Sevilla, in Seville, Spain. She is currently teaching grades 6 and 7 at East Side Middle School.
Michael Feder • Master Teacher
Michael Feder: Michael Feder has begun his 10th year of teaching, the last 7 at East Side Middle School in Manhattan, where he specializes in 6th Grade Humanities. Michael has a Master’s Degree in English Education from Teachers College and a Bachelors Degree in Journalism from St. John’s University in Queens.
Evan Klein • Master Teacher
Evan KleinEvan Klein is in his sixth year as a 6th grade Humanities teacher at East Side Middle School, a public school in Manhattan. He has also taught U.S. History and Constitutional Issues to 8th graders for the previous four summers. He has a BA in Sociology from Bowdoin College and an MA from the Bank Street Graduate School Program in Middle School Education. His teaching work also includes Lesson Study, Boys Mentoring, and Basketball Coaching. He is also in his second year as the PSAL Boys Tennis Commissioner for New York City high schools.
Melissa Nathan • Master Teacher
Melissa Brand Nathan has a graduate degree from Hunter College in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, as well as a graduate degree from Bank Street College of Education where she focused on Museum Education and Early Adolescent Education. She has been a teacher for twelve years; working first with adult English Language Learners at the City University of New York. Melissa began her career working with middle schoolers as a Language Arts teacher and later became licensed to work with students who have learning disabilities. She is currently teaching at East Side Middle School in Manhattan where she is a 6th grade Collaborative Team Teacher. She develops curriculum and co-teaches Humanities, math, and science.
Ayesha Randolph • Master Teacher
Ayesha Randolph taught ten years in the NYC Department of Education and currently teaches at The Calhoun School, where she specializes in 7th grade English and creative writing. In her career as a teacher she has focused on research into different teaching methods within an urban school setting. She was a panelist for Learn & Serve America, and is a writer. Her memoirs can read in Beloved Harlem and in The New School for Social Research chronicle.
