Design, Art, Code

A week-long experience where rising 7th, 8th and 9th graders develop their interests in art, visual design and computer programming

Design, Art, Code participants work with experts to learn fundamental concepts in design and code, making creative digital projects and computer programs based on individual topics of interest. Daily sessions alternate between instruction and hands-on exploration time and is structured around design challenges that motivate participants to put their new skills to use.

Participants tinker with 2-D and 3-D visual design environments; create games and generative art with Processing or learn the basics of programming languages such as HTML5 or Java. Throughout the week, participants are introduced to inspiring digital art projects and creative professionals, then choose to specialize in one of two tracks: art and design or programming and code. No prior experience is necessary—just curiosity, enthusiasm and a willingness to learn!
