MobileQuest CoLab is a two-week professional development program for educators interested in games, design and mobile technology as learning tools.
Based on the MobileQuest summer camp experience for youth, MobileQuest CoLab gives educators an opportunity to learn the basics of game design and systems thinking and experiment with mobile location-based experiences, then put the curricular components of the experience into practice by mentoring small groups of youth in a camp setting.
MobileQuest CoLab is launching in Pittsburgh in summer 2013, in collaboration with Allegheny Intermediate Unit and the Sprout Fund. The pilot professional development program is open to middle school teachers in Allegheny County, and takes place the week of July 8, 2013. The second week of MobileQuest CoLab, offering the week-long MobileQuest game design and technology summer camp to Pittsburgh youth from July 15-19, will be held at Carnegie Mellon University. To learn more or register for this year’s program, visit the Hive Pittsburgh website. A select number of teachers outside the Pittsburgh area will be invited to participate.
MobileQuest CoLab aims to bring MobileQuest’s model of student engagement and identity formation through games, design and technology to more cities in summers to come. To learn more about future locations and programs, please join the Institute’s community to receive updates on the latest news.
