Zamzee
A project to integrate into Quest schools’ wellness curricula a new movement measuring device and online incentive program researched and developed by HopeLab
Zamzee is an online incentive program that’s powered by movement. With Zamzee, students earn rewards by being more active. They wear the smart little Zamzee meter, and the meter converts their movement into Pointz. Pointz power their online account at zamzee.com. Pointz can also be used to unlock Zamz, the online currency used to buy rewards from the Zamzee shops.
Zamzee is designed specifically for tweens and young teens. It’s fun, it’s social, and it works. Randomized, controlled scientific studies show that Zamzee significantly increases movement among tweens – equivalent to nearly an extra marathon a month (phew!). This research was conducted by the nonprofit HopeLab, with support from Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. .
CICS ChicagoQuest will be one of the first schools in the country to test Zamzee. Zamzee will be integrated into the challenge structure of the CICS ChicagoQuest Wellness curriculum, offering an innovative opportunity for teachers, students and their families to explore ways to keep teens physically active. Zamzee is currently in a private beta and is being readied for full commercial release.
